Walking into the hospital on 11/4 @ 5:45AM
Waiting to be rolled into surgery.

My hot circulation tights with my identification bands.

Talking with Dr.G outside the operating room, waiting for the anesthesiologist.

Out of the recovery room, and into my own room.

Check out the blood! Not too swollen yet.

Dr. A came in on Thursday morning to take off the head wrap, and to let me know how everything went. He also cleaned off the blood, which was nice!

Profile picture...Dr.G and Dr.A are very excited about the look of my profile.

Check out the little bruise on my eyelids from where they stitched my eyes closed.

Friday 11/6- Swelling is increasing.

  1. Wow! What a great result!

How do you feel upon first waking up from surgery? Do you feel pain/scared/uncomfortable? I've always wondered this.

Keep hanging in there! You're doing great!

  2. Hey Dan,

When I first woke up I was very confused, and scared. Uncomfortable, yes. I stayed in the recovery room for 2 hours before being moved to my regular room. I did vomit up blood twice while in the recovery, Dr.G did pump my stomach, but more had dripped back down. Right now I'm just frustrated with all of the swelling. Tomorrow will be worse, and I think things will start to get better on Sunday or Monday. Overall I still have no regrets. :) I knew this process was going to be difficult, so I mentally prepared myself....

  3. Good job, Mary! Keep on keepin on. :) I hope you brought plenty of good movies to have playing in the background while you're recovering. I can only imagine how badly I would swell - my body overreacts to things as it is. haha But I'm glad you're happy! And your profile looks so much better already! :)

  4. Congrats on getting through with surgery. Good luck on your recovery. I'm sure you feel really swollen but your pics actually look great compared to other post-op pics that I've seen. Again, good luck and I'm anxious to see how you progress and how your TMJ pain is.

  5. you're doing GREAT Mar!!!!!!! Even the swollen pics from yesterday aren't as grusome as I was expecting. ;o) I do like the frankenstein screw in between your eyes....kinda like Chris's screw scars from when he had to wear the neck/head thing after he broke his neck.

We love you and are thinking of you always!!!! I really wish I could be there, but I know that the rents and Sam are doing a good job!!

  7. Hi Mary,
My first reaction on seeing your Post-Op pics was to reach into the computer screen and hug you. My goodness, you have been thru so much, but the results have been worth it. I heard the surgery was PERFECT!!! Way to go Mary!!! You are so resilent. Keep up the positive attitude and I will continue to send prayers your way. The day of your surgery I kept looking at the clock and anticipating what was happening to you next. Thank you for all the recovery photos and updates, I will continue to follow your progress. Lots of Love and Hugs,
    Paulie and Steve

    PS
Say Hi! to your Mom and Dad, we'll probably see your Dad next weekend sometime.
